Happy weekend, everybody!
We’re another week closer to the new year, which means another week closer to possible legal adult-use sales in New York. But for now, let’s take a look at what we at NY Cannabis Insider covered last week:
Editor/Publisher Brad Racino went to Jamestown, and came back with an amazing package of text and video content featuring the town’s decision to really lean into the legal weed industry. Brad talked to business owners, growers and Eddie Sundquist, the town’s 33-year-old mayor, who’s approaching the legal marijuana industry with open arms.
Sundquist’s vision, embraced by his staff and supported through outreach and education, has invigorated the town’s entrepreneurs, some of whom have already received conditional grow licenses, or are actively seeking retail licenses, Brad wrote.
For another story, I called every community board in four of NYC’s five boroughs to see how many have received notifications from people interested in opening a dispensary in their communities (I didn’t call all of Brooklyn’s community boards, because that borough is currently under injunction for CAURD licenses, which are currently the only dispensary licenses available).
I found that few community boards have yet received notifications from prospective dispensaries, but they are starting to slowly roll in.
